Community

Regeneration is not all about buildings and the built environment, the role of the community is key.

Get involved in the High Street

Community engagement is a central part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ), which is the project working to improve Chard’s town centre.

From 2021-2024, there will be a series of community activities and events which invite you to engage in local heritage and consider the future of the high street.

These will be delivered by SSDC and partner organisations including Historic England, Chard Museum and Holyrood Academy. If you run a local group or organisation and have a great idea for engaging others in the history of Chard’s high street, please get in touch through our Contact Us form with the HSHAZ Project Manager.

Details of planned events will be shared here when they are available.

Public Consultation

Public consultation has been central to the Chard Regeneration Scheme since the very beginnings of the leisure centre project. SSDC regularly conducts consultations to get your views on key issues and runs surveys to ensure your feedback is an important part of our decision-making process.

Visit our Consultation Hub to easily find any consultations that are currently running.
